Abbey Vandermillion, LCSW

Hello,

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have experience working within the mental health field as a therapist as well as at the community mental health level. My passion in this field is helping people process, connect, and heal through a supportive relationship. I believe that each person brings their own strengths and abilities to treatment and my job as therapist is to help them apply those to their current needs.

When working with children and adolescents, I believe that therapy should be a fun, safe place to come and learn new skills. I strive to include parents and caregivers in treatment and provide support to the whole family in order to help make long term change for clients. I encourage creativity, excitement, and enjoyment during sessions. Sessions often include play, games, activities, and traditional talk therapy.

As a mother myself, I have a particular passion about helping moms and families during times of transition including pregnancy and post-partum. With all clients, I strive to create a warm, non- judgemental space for clients to be themselves and make progress toward their individual goals. I emphasise using evidence based treatment including CBT, EMDR, TF-CBT, and Solution- Focused Approach.

Specialities include:

Children and Adolescents (Age 4+, parents will be asked to be involved with treatment of children)
Family Work
Postpartum/Perinatal Mood Disorders and Issues

LGBTQ Issues
Mood Disorders/Anxiety Disorders Trauma- EMDR and TF-CBT Adjustment Disorders and life changes Grief and Loss
